Who We Are

Mission: To advance research at the intersection of radiology and neuroscience. We are focused on identifying and validating new imaging biomarkers for mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) to create a more precise and effective standard of care for diagnosis and patient treatment.

Vision: We envision a future where every brain injury is detected with clarity, understood with depth, and treated with precision. Our goal is to empower clinicians with the advanced diagnostic tools they need to improve outcomes and provide hope to millions of patients and their families.

Our Mission & Vision

BRAIN advancing research at the intersection of radiology and neuroscience
BRAIN Foundation Bridging Radiology and Innovative Neuroscience (BRAIN), Inc. Pioneering Research for Objective mTBI Diagnosis

Bridging Radiology and Innovative Neuroscience (BRAIN), Inc., hereafter referred to as the BRAIN Foundation, was established to address a critical, unmet need in neuroscience: the objective diagnosis and characterization of mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). We are a private, agile non-profit organization committed to pioneering the research that will form the basis of the next generation of patient care.

About the BRAIN Foundation

The BRAIN Foundation is guided by a board of practicing clinicians and researchers whose work is at the forefront of neuroscience and radiology. Our governance is unique, with a board heavily composed of neuroradiologists who bring invaluable, real-world expertise in advanced imaging. This expert-led composition ensures our research strategy remains clinically relevant, scientifically rigorous, and firmly focused on solving the real-world diagnostic challenges faced by physicians and patients every day.

Our Leadership

Doctor consulting with mTBI patient

The impetus for the BRAIN Foundation stems from a persistent clinical challenge: the disconnect between the significant, ongoing symptoms experienced by many mTBI patients and the often "normal" findings of conventional MRI scans. This diagnostic gap leaves both patients and clinicians without clear answers, hindering the path to effective recovery.

We were founded by a group of clinicians and researchers who recognized an urgent need for a more focused and nimble research model. By operating outside the constraints of traditional university administration, we can directly pursue the most promising avenues in advanced neuroimaging, such as Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), and accelerate the translational research required to move these powerful techniques from the laboratory into clinical practice.
